Saw this big’n on hd-sf.com, a site that gives you an almost live picture of the SF bay, taken from high on a Sausalito hill. It also gives you the ship’s name, this one is the New Century 1. She’s what’s known in the trade as a Ro-Ro, meaning cargo can be rolled on and rolled off. Ro-ro-ro your boat indeed.
She is 325 feet long, 105 feet wide, and has a draft of 27 feet. She carries her capacity of 6,000 cars at 20 knots. You can see an even bigger car carrier here (though you have to scroll down just a little bit; it seems some data has been lost, or I should say have been lost).
