Requiem for a Blog

P1050425

One of my favorite blogs was TenderloinTales on Tumblr. It was written by a young lady who lives in the Tenderloin, and hangs out with the Vietnam vets, recent immigrants, and alcoholics and addicts of various sorts. She favors a drink from time to time herself. She wrote about all of the above, and of her euphoric heights and tragic lows in romance. She was generous in letting her readers come along for the ride. Really wore her heart on her sleeve in the most charming way. Her blog was fascinating and depressing and riveting and harrowing at the same time.

So I clicked on it a couple days ago, and got a ‘not found’ message. Turns out she felt like she got to much attention, and worried about remaining anonymous, so she deleted it. Damn.

Somewhere 5 more blogs started up, but they are nowhere near as interesting as Tenderlointales.P1030278I guess what makes the Tenderloin so lovable is that people there are really in the struggle. One struggle or another.
