Banana Slugs in La Honda

On the San Francisco Peninsula, in the mountains between Palo Alto and the Pacific Ocean, lies the small town of La Honda.

About fifteen hundred people live in La Honda, along with an uncounted number of Banana Slugs.

Biologists know them as Ariolimax Californicus.

Take one large Banana Slug.

Dip in buttermilk, roll in cornmeal.

Saute over a high heat for about 1 1/2 minutes.

Add parsley and just a touch of cayenne, serve with a dry North Coast white wine.

Not really, just kidding. Leave the slugs alone!

Rock on, Banana Slugs.
