Sweltering day in New York City. We were taking a break on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, when a couple appeared. As the man set up a tripod and a small sound system, the woman changed into a beautifully-made lizard costume.

As opera  music played, the woman struck a series of lizard-like poses.

As the woman did her lizard thing, tourists gawked, and jaded New Yorkers continued on their way up and down Fifth Avenue.

We got cold drinks from a vendor, and watched the show while cooling down a little. Then we headed into one of the planet’s greatest museums. I Love New York City.

The lizard performer’s name is Annie Hickman. She is a costume artist with a website worthy of perusal- weavingthewild.com.
